As wedding season approaches, the contours of India’s sartorial mood board are beginning to emerge. It is an exercise in contrasts: quiet luxury set against calculated flamboyance, and tradition interpreted with a sharper, more individual eye.
Gold anchors the season, accompanied by beiges, creams and ivories, worked into silhouettes that feel almost architectural. The move away from overwhelming ornamentation is unmistakable. Tailoring now carries the weight, with cut, construction and fabric making the statement.
For men, accessories are no longer optional. Brooches, jewelled buttons, layered chains and cufflinks bring personality to a pared-back look. Grooms and their parties are choosing cleaner lines and placement embroidery—a considered motif on a collar, cuff or panel rather than decoration everywhere. The effect is festive, but never perfunctory.
Brides, however, are holding their ground in colour. Red, fuchsia and pink remain deeply tied to the Indian bridal imagination, untouched by the wider drift towards neutrals.
